Top 5-Feb. 2023

This month was a lot more wide open. No single woman really made an impact that dwarfed the rest. I will give an honorary mention to 18-year old phenom Billie Starkz who’s really been showing out in AEW. She went 0-2 in a good match versus Yuka Sakazaki and an excellent match against Emi Sakura. Tony HAS to sign this woman. She rules.

With that out of the way, let’s look at Feburary’s Top 5…

#5: Saraya (NR)

VenueRecord
AEW2-0-0
Dynamite/Rampage/PPV2-0-0
Dark/Elevation0-0-0

Summary

Saraya makes her first every appearance in the Top 5. She didn’t have an outstanding month competitively but she did win 2 matches on TV which is as much as anyone else and she was able to weasel her way into a 3-way match at Revolution for Jamie’s World Title.

MatchesOutcome
w/Toni Storm vs Renegade TwinsWin
vs Skye BlueWin

#4: Toni Storm (NR)

VenueRecord
AEW2-1-0
Dynamite/Rampage/PPV2-1-0
Dark/Elevation0-0-0

Summary

Toni Storm had a decent month as all her matches were on TV but she fell in the 3-way match which ultimately decided the direction for Revolution. She had a strong match with Willow Nightingale on Rampage but overall she’s had better months.

MatchesOutcome
w/Saraya vs Renegade TwinsWin
vs Britt Baker vs Ruby SohoLoss
vs Willow NightingaleWin

#3: Emi Sakura (NR)

VenueRecord
AEW5-0-0
Dynamite/Rampage/PPV0-0-0
Dark/Elevation5-0-0

Summary

I’ve gotta hand it to Emi Sakura. Although she didn’t have a match on TV this month, her 5-0 record on Dark & Elevation was spotlighted by the aforementioned match against Billie Starkz. Emi is finally getting her flowers from the AEW faithful. I’d love to see her get more matches on TV.

MatchesOutcome
w/Nyla Rose & Marina Shafir vs Madison Rayne, Skye Blue & Queen AminataWin
wlNyla Rose vs Madison Rayne & Skye BlueWin
w/Nyla Rose & Marina Shafir vs Madison Rayne, Leva Bates & Willow NightingaleWin
vs Billie StarkzWin
vs Rachelle RiveterWin

#2: Jade Cargill (3)

VenueRecord
AEW3-0-0
Dynamite/Rampage/PPV2-0-0
Dark/Elevation1-0-0

Summary

Jade moves from #2 to #3 back up to #2 this month. She came out on top with her rivalry with Red Velvet, she beat upstart VertVixen and also a tag match alongside Leila Grey on Dark Elevation. I still want Jade so badly to face Emi Sakura. That’s my current agenda but really I’d be happy just to see her wrestle against anyone more credible.

MatchesOutcome
vs Red VelvetWin
w/Leila Grey vs Dulce Tormenta & DD DoomWin
vs VertVixenWin

#1: Ruby Soho (2)

VenueRecord
AEW2-0-0
Dynamite/Rampage/PPV2-0-0
Dark/Elevation0-0-0

Summary

I gotta move Ruby Soho up a spot to #1 for February. She won twice on TV and against credible challengers including in a triple threat with Toni Storm and Britt Baker. You consider this along with her big win last month in that bloody Street Fight and Ruby’s earned her spot at Revolution.

MatchesOutcome
vs Marina ShafirWin
vs Toni Storm vs Britt BakerWin

So what do you think? Would you shift around these 5 women? Is there someone else you’d place in the Top 5? And if so, who do you take out? You can let me know in the comment section or hit me up on Twitter at @aew_one.

Thanks for reading and, as always, make sure you let the women in your life know how much you appreciate them!
