Serena Deeb’s music hits and Daddy Magic aires his delight at getting to call a match of one of his personal favourites. What started organically (and I like to think I helped spur online) as Daddy Magic saying off the cuff that he’d “take the under” on Serena Deeb’s match lasting 3-minutes has become a theme on Dark Elevation.
I’m not familiar with Katie Arquette. She has the comedy & tragedy theatre masks on her gear. She does have 5 years of in-ring experience with over 130 matches. Let’s see how her 3-minutes or less goes…
Deeb opens with some standing holds which Arquette is able to escape so Deeb turns to her striking. Katie then ducks a Lariat so Deeb resorts to executing a standing Octopus hold. Again, Katie powers out and manages to get Deeb into a fireman carry position but Serena escapes out the back.
Katie gets a modicum of offence in before Serena takes the match back over. Swinging neckbreaker and a Serenity Lock to which Katie taps in 2:03. Well under Daddy Magic’s usual razor thin margin this time.
I thought Katie Arquette sold well. She had a size advantage over Serena and was able to get out of the Octopus hold. Some of her counter game gets put over dodge and evade certain attacks but in the end Serena Deeb just has too many weapons, all of which she’s proficient in.
Maybe as much as anything, this match just proves how valuable an entertaining commentator can be. Serena Deeb is currently “on the back burner” awaiting her next storyline. Whether TK has something on the books or not, it certainly helps having Daddy Magic just pulling in context and storylines out of thin air that can possibly be built off of.
Note: Just because I give a match a low rating doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it for what it was nor is it necessarily a commentary on the competitors. Not all matches are meant to be 3-to-5 star matches.
