Leila Grey would seem to be a prospect of interest as she gets to squash JC. Leila can lay claim to be one of the only (is there another?) woman to have wrestled in AEW and WWE this year (as she wrestled as Cat Cardoza on Smackdown this past April). She’s actually really hustled the last couple years, wrestling at least one match in 24 different promotions through her 82 career matches.
Stand chain wrestling to start off, some arm work. Grey whips JC into the corner who reverses it by doing a handstand, grabbing Leila by the head and attempting to pull Leila’s face into the turnbuckle. It’s a bit wonky but by the grace of Leila’s selling and camera work, it comes off okay.
Leila then shows some great quickness after JC runs off the ropes at her as Grey hooks an arm and jumps floating over into a front face lock position before hitting an X-Factor on JC. Leila gives an audible “That’s right baby!” which gets a good crowd reaction.
Leila continues her attacks in the corner, pulls her out, suplex and senton with some postering before a kick in the gut and then finishes JC off with like a double underhook DDT but instead of a DDT, she drops JC onto her knee. Take a look:
I’m not sure about this as a finisher in the long run, seems like a move you might use to setup either an aerial attack or a submission but we’ll see how this progresses. I would’ve liked to see Stokely Hathaway out at ringside to draw more heat for Leila but overall, I’m looking forward to how this act progresses with this seeming rift between Stokely and Jade Cargill with Leila being the storytelling vehicle for that.

Note: Just because I give a match a low rating doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it for what it was nor is it necessarily a commentary on the competitors. Not all matches are meant to be 3-to-5 star matches.
