Julia “Black” Hart’s debut.
Interestingly, this is Julia Hart’s first match since aligning herself with the House of Black at Double Or Nothing. She comes out wearing a vale covering from her nose to her neck. Possibly alluding to her ability to use black myst. She’s also got a black contact lens in one eye.
Valentina is a fun character and starts out the match by making fun of Julia. Julia shows a lot more aggression in this match with her strikes, she hits a suplex and floats over into what looked to be a pin but actually turned into a ground & pound. I like that spot for her.
Julia does a trio of moves including a back heel trip and a standing moonsault then turns into a cross-legged pose ala Malakai Black. Julia then puts Valentina into an interesting double hooked submission for the win.
Rossi didn’t really get to show much besides her “Italian Hands” taunt. She has a good sense for physical comedy and apparently has a background in ballet, which is probably why she’s so fluid with her movement.
Julia Black showed some new offence and attitude. 20 years old at 39 matches under her belt, 5 of which were on Dynamite/Rampage. It’s pretty crazy how much she’s developed in the ring and how much emphasis AEW has put on her character. I mean, we all know a cheerleader gimmick has a shelf-life but they could’ve gotten away with having her be a loveable loser for a few years. Clearly they see a lot in her!
