Julia Hart vs Arie Alexander

Julia Hart continues to refine her new character on Dark Elevation. Her presentation is slightly tweaked with a vale over her head once the lights come on. Her entrance really gets a reaction in the arena.

Arie Alexander is completely new to me. For this match she’s a great contrast to Julia as her gear looks akin to something the Young Bucks might wear. Arie, according to Cage Match, has 4 years of in-ring experience (91 matches) while also doing some valeting.

The bell rings. Julia, as we’ve begun to become accustomed to, just stands in the corner staring down her opponent. It’s a full 23 seconds until first contact is made in this match as Arie comes in with a grapple attempt but Julia greets her with a low kick.

Along with Julia’s entrance getting over, this is a strong spot as it’s something unique to her and puts her across as a strong counter-wrestler. It’ll be fun to see how different opponents play with this.

Julia’s moveset is mostly strikes while also harkening back to her cheerleading background with the handspring elbow. Arie gets in a couple shots before Julia counters with a snap mare, kick to the back, and then a great looking standing moonsault.

As Arie gets up, Julia lariats Arie to the back of the neck. She finds the camera saying “The House Always Wins” before sinking in her submission which, for weeks I’ve been asking for a name for it, and I’ve been obliged as Daddy Magic informs us that Julia Hart calls this the “Hartless Lock”. So there you go.

Not much to gauge from Arie’s performance from an offensive standpoint but she looked pretty professional selling and giving facial reactions to Julia’s offence. Julia’s act is really coming together. Literally my only nitpick (and I’m not even sure it’s that), I don’t know how I feel about Julia Hart mouthing the words “The House Always Wins” to her music. I can’t decide whether I find it cringe or just that it’s a bit ‘too cute’ for a dark character who’s supposed to come off more serious. It might win me over in time. It’s also completely possible that I’m just closer to the end of the “key demo” than the beginning of it and others really dig it. But all in all, Julia’s come so far in such a short amount of time.
