Again, all these entrances just pop so much visually with the new set. I liked the original “chandelier” AEW set but this is much more “big time” feeling and offers a lot of cool options in the future.
So going into this match, the outcome isn’t in doubt. It’d be a monumental feat to give you that 1% doubt and as good as solid as the work in this match was, they never achieved that.
Despite this Dark-level booking, and despite this being a heel vs heel match, the crowd are just so into Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker that it never felt like a let down. For someone like me who takes an interest in seeing the Renegades wrestle (two women I consider prospective #AllElite talents) it made the match up more interesting than most fans, I’m guessing. I thought the Renegades in-ring work and character work took a noticeable step forward.
Overall, there’s not really a ton to break down. Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter get most of their shit in although they defeat the Renegades without Hayter resorting to using Hayterade or Britt suing the Lock Jaw, rather Baker wins with a Curb Stomp.
I think anyone watching was interested to see what might be said about the big match on January 11th where many speculate Mercedes Moné to make an appearance but there was nothing. They won the match and we’re onto the next segment.
