Athena comes out with her sweet wings jacket. Queen Aminata is waiting in the ring.
Aminata opens the match by knocking Athena to her knees with a gut kick and then rubs her butt on Athena’s face. Athena doesn’t take kindly to this and turns up the aggression. Queen Aminata leaves to the floor and teases that she’s going to leave but Athena races over and intercepts her with a MASSIVE shotgun dropkick!
Athena brings Queen Aminata back in the ring but the Queen takes advantage with a cheap shot and starts a run on offence, really getting to show her stuff and she looks solid doing it. Athena breaks up Queen’s run by ducking a kick, kipping up and then Superkicking Aminata! Amazing athleticism and timing!
Athena then picks up Aminata into like a back breaker position but then drops her, while jumping and turning and kicking her in the face in a fluid motion. Damn. This leads to Athena hitting one of the most spectacular moves in all of wrestling: the O-Face. Athena wins.
This was a really fun match and definitely worth checking out! I was impressed with Queen Aminata both with her character work and her in-ring from an offence and selling standpoint. Athena, meanwhile, looks primed for a big matchup against Jade Cargill. I’m assuming that’s where they’re heading.
