Excalibur describes AQA as a very promising prospect. I think people sometimes forget she’s been signed by AEW. #AllElite graphic and all! I’m interested to see more of her. Of course she’s got an amazing Shooting Star Press so that’s a good start! AQA has 50 career matches with 7 of those coming in AEW (5-2). AQA’s music sounds like pop music from the movie Fifth Element which might be a bit of a deep cut of a reference but I’m a big fan of that flick.
Avery Breaux sports the French fleur-de-lis on her gear so I was anticipating her hailing from Quebec but I’m forgetting Louisiana has French roots. This is Avery’s 2nd match in AEW (first was in May on Dark in a loss to Kris Statlander) and she’s got 10(!) matches under her belt!
AQA shows some good, fast offence with a high jumping dropkick and a running splash into the corner. Beaux delivers a cannon ball in the corner and then drags AQA way further into the ring than she needed to to make the pin. AQA kicks out at 2.5, lol. AQA eventually finishes off Breaux with a flipping neck breaker.
I mean, I always put a little note on here when I rate a match lowly but I just want to reiterate that, especially on Dark, a lot of these matches are just about getting reps on a taped show, in front of a live audience. One of the reasons I love Dark/Elevation is getting to see new prospects and one of the parts I’ve really enjoyed about doing these reviews are getting to revisit these prospects and watching the develop and grow. For 60 combined matches, these ladies did quite well execution-wise.

Note: Just because I give a match a low rating doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it for what it was nor is it necessarily a commentary on the competitors. Not all matches are meant to be 3-to-5 star matches.
